Josh Hamilton Loses Homerun Derby but Wins Over the Crowd
Josh Hamilton was a number ONE draft among baseball players in 1999 when he became addicted to drugs and alcohol. 8 trips to rehab, 26 tattoos, three years away from baseball, and a distraught family are what he says the result of his addiction was. After a spiritual awakening he turned his life around and tonight made TWENTY EIGHT home-runs in the first round of the Homerun Derby. Yankee Stadium was applauding him and chanting his name. This is what Hamilton claimed he dreamt previous to the derby
“I was in the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium,” he said. “I’m not making this stuff up. I didn’t see how I did. I just saw the microphones stuck in my face after I was finished hitting, and I got to share with the people the reasons I was back.”
Josh Hamilton is a name we will be hearing much of in the coming years. And he deserves it.
